JOBS

We are hiring a Director of Operations!

We are looking for a powerhouse to join our collaborative and talented team as the Director of Operations! The DoO is responsible for operational efficiency, profitability, customer satisfaction, and product quality - holding departmental managers accountable for SG’s values and standards. All department managers report to you.

 

For the first few months, you will co-lead (with the executive team) the transition from our 550sf East Village bakery cafe to a new 8,000sf headquarters space in Bushwick. This is an opportunity to shape the growth of an organization as we go through a large expansion.

Operations (Retail, Catering, Wholesale, Events & RISE)

  • Primary goal is to promote a well-coordinated, efficient and symbiotic relationship among departments and facilities

  • Oversees all departments - develops and manages infrastructure to achieve growth objectives, setting comprehensive goals for performance

  • Develops and maintains relationships with key accounts

  • Responsible for supply/demand forecast

  • Accountable for 100% compliance with all relevant policies, EEO, labor, HR, wage and food safety laws and regulations

  • Assesses present and future needs, trends, challenges and opportunities - participates in the research and evaluation of new equipment, products and techniques 

 

Financial

  • Reviews monthly P&L and sales results, compare to established objectives, and take action to ensure that expectations are met or exceeded

  • Supports budgeting and cash management processes, holding managers accountable to policies

  • Develops and track KPIs and conduct periodic analytical and quantitative deep dives into supply chain data to help drive improvements

  • Oversees cost saving initiatives, monitoring COGS and labor costs

  • Submits weekly payroll reports to Justworks, approve staff time and labor costs

  • Support fundraising ventures

 

People Management

  • Acts as the champion for SG standards, policies, and procedures. 

  • Cultivates a positive culture and work environment focused on integrity, excellence, creativity, and accountability, encouraging staff retention.

  • Supervises managers, problem-solves around challenges. 

  • Coaches and provides frequent feedback to managers and supervisors through consistent communication and regular team meetings; proactively addresses issues in alignment with HR

  • Conducts performance reviews for management staff, setting and managing goals

  • Keeps informed of trends in the market and competitors; work with managers to recommend innovation

  • Ensures that training systems and processes are aligned to efficiently support the needs of the business

 

RISE

  • Models company culture and standards; motivates, coaches, and builds trusting relationships with participants

  • Collaborates with departmental managers to integrate participants and programming into operations

  • Seeks new partnership opportunities and maintains strong current partnerships

  • Holds RISE accountable to all Sweet Generation policies, procedures, values and standards

  • Contributes to performance evaluations of participants

 

Community Engagement

  • Cultivate a positive relationship with the community, participating in local events and hosting events onsite

  • Lead operational plan development of Community Engagement Space

  • 3+ years of management experience required, 1+ years of senior management preferred

  • At least 3 years experience in F&B/hospitality

  • Sense of humor is a must. We like to have fun!
