Leveraging the powers of the Arts and creativity to make change in one's life and the world.

Sweet Generation bakery engages the next generation by offering a comprehensive internship program that teaches baking, proper food handling with certification, point-of-sale system proficiency, and entrepreneurship to teens and young adults from New York City communities.

We have partnered with the Boys Club of New York, The Center for Arts Education, Cypress Hills LDC and their Summer Youth Employment and Young Adult Internship Program, as well as the Lower Manhattan Arts Academy and City As School. Internships last from 6 weeks to a full school year, and training is provided in Back of House (Kitchen) and Front Of House (Cafe) apprenticeship.

To continue Amy’s love for arts education, Sweet Generation actively supports these programs by providing monetary and in-kind donations of products and services, helping our partners meet their fundraising goals.

From walking into our bakery and being greeted with a smile by a youth intern working the counter, to capturing a glimpse of our community youth art wall, to biting into a cookie made by a teenager learning how to use the metric system to scale a recipe - our mission is deeply engrained in the fabric of our business.

Interested in Partnering With Us?

We work with a variety of programs serving youth ages 16-24.  Our partners must have an established internship program that include compensation for participants (either monetary or school credit). It is our goal to provide young people with real world experience, and we believe compensation for their work is not only the right thing to do, but helps teach responsibility and financial management. To inquire about developing a partnership with Sweet Generation, please contact Olivia@SweetGeneration.org.

Looking For a Donation?

We get a very large number of donation and sponsorship requests and have a rigorous review process to determine which organizations and events we are able to support in this way. While Sweet Generation would love to be able to donate to all organizations doing mission driven work, we are currently only accepting inquiries for donations in the following service areas that are aligned with our own social missions of:

  1. Youth and/or job development

  2. Arts education

  3. Creative endeavors (including performing arts, arts based small businesses, or organizations that are creatively addressing a social need).

To inquire about a partnership, sponsorship or donation, please contact our Social Mission Manager, Ali Chandler, at

Please provide us with your organization’s mission and information about the event, including the date, for which you are requesting the donation.

We will carefully review each inquiry, the mission of the organization, and will get back to you as soon as possible if we will be able to donate. All inquires must be made AT LEAST one month in advance
